Whether due to hereditary or environmental factors, eyesight can vary as we age; that's why it's crucial to get your eyes tested regularly. In addition, you may have noticed your vision needs more support over the past year, particularly with the rise in working from home and increase in screen time.

Having optimal vision is vital for everyday life; because of this, Essilor has developed "My Vision Check",  a free solution to help you check your distance vision quickly and easily from home.

About The My Vision Check App

The app is straightforward to set up as you only need a smartphone, a mirror and your prescription glasses or contact lenses if you already wear them!

After undergoing a short questionnaire and a distance check, you will be set to take the check with your right and left eyes. At the end, you will receive a summary of your results, including a personalised follow-up recommendation with a link to support you in finding your nearest Essilor partnered optician.

My Vision Check is a free and reliable app to check your distance vision at home. Keep in mind that the test has no diagnostic value and is not intended to replace a visit to your local optician.

Why it's essential to have regular eye exams

Even a good result on the visual acuity test does not guarantee your eyes are healthy.

The NHS recommends undergoing a complete eye exam with an optometrist at least every two years to identify any underlying problems quickly. Optometrists examine your eyes' internal and external structure to detect conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and cataracts that My Vision Check is unable to identify.

If you're overdue an eye exam or have noticed a change in your vision you should book an appointment with your optician. Find your local optician and reserve an appointment today.

My Vision Check is :

  • Accessible for all and simple to use, with results in under 10 minutes
  • Unique to you, offering personalised recommendations based on your results
  • A great way to check your eyesight quickly before following up with a full eye exam.
